 Day Mother/Daughter Self-Defense class Wednesday April 22nd. April 22nd 
 is National Denim Day\; wearing jeans during April is a symbol of protest 
 of harmful attitudes about rape in response to an Italian Supreme Court 
 decision to overturn a rape conviction because the victim wore jeans. 
 This decision did not recognize that coercive threats and force are a 
 part of the act of rape. In honor of Denim Day the self defense class 
 participants will receive a denim bag. The class is held from\, 6-9 pm at 
 the Alliance Outreach Center located at 1921 19th street. Participants

 Violence and Sexual Assault\, Kern County's only Rape Crisis Center\, is 
 offering a 40-hour certification training session on sexual assault. Our 
 goal: to training advocates or those who want to help victims in our 
 community. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6 pm 
 to 10 pm during the training session. A $30.00 fee for course materials 
 and snacks and commitment to 60 volunteer hours in six months at Alliance
